The Catcher in the Rye

I am about half way through The Catcher and the Rye. So far, this is my favorite of the three books we've had to read this summer. The main character is Holden Caulfield. I think I like this story so much because I can really relate to this character. He notices a lot of little things about people and I do that to. The littlest of things can get on his nerves. That happens to me a lot of the time to. But, I do feel bad for him. He got kicked out of school once again. It is his own fault that he keeps getting get kicked out, though. If he put effort into his classes he would be able to be successful it seems to me. He feels really depressed at this point of the story, too. "Boy, I felt miserable. I felt so depressed, you can't imagine." (Salinger 129) It makes me worry about him and make me wonder what he might do to deal with his depression later on in the story. I think there is a little suspense growing in the story. Holden also keeps feeling very nervous over things. I can understand this feeling. I, also, get nervous over a lot of thing. So I can really relate to the main charcter. Now, he is staying in a hotel all by himself and he is the same age as me. I would hate to have to ride a subway in the middle of the night and check into a hotel all by myself. So it makes me think he is very brave. If I had to guess what would happen later in the story I think That Holden may end up doing something horrible because of his depression. He may stop caring about life in general and get into fights or something like that. So far, I really like this story. It makes me wonder what might happen later on. I also like how easy it is to read and the pages just fly by.
