A similarity between our poems is that they both look at life through a new perspective. In my poem, the speaker looks a life through the view of love and in yours the speaker is looking at life through the psychological aspect where he questions everything that he does. One difference between our poems is mine did not have any sense of religion, which is also what stood out to me the most. The fact that God was used in your poem is a really good characteristic of modernism because in the past stories and time periods we have studied God was so prevalent and the cause of everything that seemed to happen.
The thing that stood out most to me was that you said Modernism was about questioning things of the past and renovation, and I agree. Our characteristics of Modernism were similar in that there was a rejection of tradition, but your story was different from mine in that it had much more religious influence.
The things that are similar between our poems is that they both explain things in life while looking as it through as psychological aspect. Mine was about nature/mother nature and earth, while your was about love between two individuals. The thing that stood out to me was the depth of religion within this poem and how that tied it to the modernism writing style.
Once again, as with many of the other poems analyzed, my work does not relate to this work because mine had nothing to do with love and more to do with hardships, which could be a common theme of despair and disillusionment in things like God and family. I like how you touched on the point of the change in focus of religion, a area usually left untouched.

ReplyDeleteI like the connection you make with modernism and Leo's love life. It is clear to see the two go hand in hand.
